Insurance physiotherapy FAQs

Do I need a referral for insurance-funded physiotherapy?
It depends on the scheme. WorkCover and ICWA do not require a GP referral — you need a valid claim number. Medicare EPC and DVA both require a GP referral. NDIS requires no referral, just funding in your plan.
Can I choose my own physiotherapist under these schemes?
Yes — under WorkCover WA, ICWA, DVA, and NDIS, you are entitled to choose your own registered physiotherapy provider. Move Physiotherapy is registered for all applicable schemes.
What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
Bring your claim number (WorkCover/ICWA), DVA card and GP referral (DVA), Medicare card and GP referral (EPC), or NDIS plan details (NDIS). Our team will guide you through the paperwork.
Do I pay anything upfront?
For WorkCover, ICWA, and DVA — no, once your claim or entitlement is confirmed. For Medicare EPC there is a $36 gap payment. For NDIS self-managed participants, you pay and then claim reimbursement from the NDIA.
Can I use private health insurance alongside these schemes?
Not simultaneously for the same service — you cannot double-dip between Medicare and private health for the same appointment. If you are unsure, our admin team can help clarify before your first appointment.
